Preschool Number Matching

Print the pencil template (there are both color and black and white parts) and carefully use scissors to cut out the number cards. You may want to laminate the activity to increase durability.

Optional: Place the colored pieces in a sensory bin for added interest

Back to School Theme Preschool

There are various steps to complete this counting activity for preschoolers. You can complete them all for a well rounded activity practicing counting to 10, writing numbers to 10, and number matching – or just the steps that are appropriate for your child:
  • Match the yellow pencil numbers to the black and white pencil on the number mat.
  • Trace of pencil numbers
  • Count 1-10 by placing the correct number of counters on each number
  • Sequence the colored pieces in numerical order

  • Number Recognition – Identify written numerals 1-10
  • One-to-One Correspondence – Count objects and recognize that each object represents a value
