Start out by printing one of the 12 color recognition pages. I recommend laminating them for durability and repeated use. Color playdough mats include:

  • Color Mat – print just this one and you can change the color of the fish kids are matching (this is perfect for saving on color printing)
  • Black and Whit Mat – this is great for those wanting to be thrifty; just like above you can just change the color of the fish preschoolers are matching
  • Orange Fish Mat
  • Purple Fish Mat
  • Blue Fish Mat
  • Yellow Fish Mat
  • Pink Fish Mat
  • Red Fish Mat
  • Green Fish Mat
  • Brown Fish Mat
  • Gray Fish Mat

This fun, hands on color recognition activity is perfect for toddler, preschool, prek, kindergarten.

This fun, hands on color recognition activity is perfect for toddler, preschool, prek, kindergarten. Students will pick the color playdough that matches with the fish at the top of the page. Then they will strengthen muscles in their hands while they knead and roll out the dough; the use a fish cookie cutter to fill their aquarium with playdough fish.

This playdough counting activity is a great early math activity.

If you have an older preschooler, have your student count the number of playdough fish they made. Then shape playdough into a long worm and form the number of fish in the aquarium. This is a great number practice at the same time.
